BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE is a premium action game for PC by developer Awe Interactive. It is a rhythm-based first-person shooter that features roguelike elements in its gameplay. In it, players go into randomly generated dungeons and defeat enemies while keeping to the beat of a rock soundtrack.
Just like Metal: Hellsinger or Pistol Whip, BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE will have players face hordes of enemies through high-intensity soundtracks that make the experience more immersive and thrilling. It offers multiple characters, each with its own unique strength and abilities that dramatically affect combat during every run and playthrough.
Rock opera
In BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE, you play as a Valkyrie who is tasked with defending Asgard from the forces of the underworld. Choose from 10 unique characters, each with its own unique loadout of guns and special abilities. Explore randomly generated dungeons as you face hordes of enemies and defeat all eight bosses in order to halt the advance of the invading army and repel them from your home.
Combat is where this game shines, and true to its name, you will be battling to the beat of a hard-hitting rock soundtrack. From firing your weapon to reloading it, every action you make is tied to the rhythm of the song. Your enemies also utilize unique rhythmic movement and attack patterns. Use special abilities like teleporting or firing freeze bolts in tough situations to your favor.
Choose from an arsenal of weapons, ranging from pistols to submachine guns, and even a rocket shotgun. There are also over 60 items that provide unique buffs and bonuses. Sadly, for a game that is centered around music and rhythm, there is not a lot of variety in the songs being used. You end up with one or two minutes tracks that just keep looping throughout your gameplay.
Needs more tracks
Overall, there is a lot to like about BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE, with its distinct gothic-like look, fun gameplay, and bangin' soundtrack. Unfortunately, that last part is where the game ironically drops the ball, with its paltry selection of songs. Here's to hoping that future updates will build upon its already solid foundation. If you're into rhythm games, shooters, and metal, this is definitely worth checking out.
